This guide will walk you through the installation and configuration of Microsoft Outlook for a better integration with SOGo through the use of the CalDavSynchronizer addon.
Outlook CalDav Synchronizer is an open source addon for Microsoft Windows Outlook. It synchronizes events, tasks and contacts between Microsoft Outlook and CalDAV or CardDAV servers. Supported Outlook versions are Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2016. Together with other open source solutions like SOGo, a full open source Microsoft Exchange server replacement for desktop users is finally possible and enterprise ready. Outlook CalDav Synchronizer is Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) , licensed under AGPL3 and developed by Gerhard Zehetbauer and Alexander Nimmervoll.
Download and extract the OutlookCalDavSynchronizer-<Version>.zip into any directory and start setup.exe. You can change the default install path, but you need to use a directory on the C:\ drive. Follow the instructions and restart Outlook after the installation is finished.
Choose whether to install just for one user or all users on the PC.
After starting Outlook, restarting Outlook if it was open during the install You will see a CalDav Synchronizer ribbon for SOGo calendars, tasks and address books.
In the Synchronization profiles dialog, press Add new profile if you just need to synchronize one resource or Add multiple profiles if you need to synchronize multiple calendars, address books or task folders.
Next, select the SOGo profile type
Give the option a name, in this case it is called SOGo Calendar
Choose the Outlook Folder, if you choose Calendar (This computer only) it will over write the existing data. This is fine if you have not used the calendar before. If you have previously used the calendar, either export the data to import back later, or clion New to create a new calendar instance in Outlook.
Under Server settings
First, you should change the profile name and configure the server settings, the DAV URL is prefilled with the default SOGo DAV path and you should only change the hostname of your SOGo server (this is usually mail.{YOURDOMAIN}, enter Username and Password and email address. Press Test or discover settings. If successful, the DAV url will be configured for your calendar
Once complete press OK. You can then either press synchronize now in Outlook or wait for the synchronization to occur at the scheduled interval.
Adding an Address Book (Contacts in Outlook)
For address books, the profile setup is similar, just choose an Outlook contacts folder for synchronization.
