What did your website look like five years ago?
Websites have a habit of changing while nobody is looking.
A new homepage appears. An old design disappears. Someone asks what the site used to say about a product, and nobody can remember.
The Wayback section in the client portal lets you look back through the history of domains we manage for you.
Choose a domain and you’ll see its available captures over time. The timeline shows when the site was captured, how many captures there were in different years, and a few useful highlights, including the earliest and latest versions we can find.
You can then open the archived pages in the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
It’s useful when you’ve taken over an older domain, when you’re planning a redesign, or when you’re trying to work out what a website used to be used for.
It’s also a surprisingly good way to lose twenty minutes looking at old websites.
Not every domain will have a history. Newer sites may not have been captured yet, and some sites simply won’t have any records.
For the ones that do, it’s a nice little window into the past.
