If you’re typing in one window and checking information in another, Windows lets you scroll through your reference material without clicking away from your document. Here’s how:
- Right-click the Windows Start button and select Settings.
- In Windows 11, choose Bluetooth & devices > Mouse. In Windows 10, choose Devices > Mouse.
- Switch on Scroll inactive windows when hovering over them.
- Arrange your document and reference window side by side.
- Click in your document to type, then move the pointer over the reference window and use the mouse wheel without clicking.
Your document stays active, so you can carry on typing straight away without clicking back into it.
