Tech Tip : Screenshot Just The Window You Want To Share

If you need to show someone an error message or something in an application, Windows can capture just that window, saving you from cropping a full-screen screenshot and keeping unrelated windows out of view. Here’s how:

  • Click the window you want to capture.
  • Press Alt + Print Screen, sometimes labelled PrtScn.
  • Open your email or document and press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot.

This works in Windows 10 and 11. On some laptops, you may also need to hold the Fn key. Check the captured window for sensitive information before sharing it.
