Servers
In computing, a server is any combination of hardware or software designed to provide services to clients. When used alone, the term typically refers to a computer which may be running a server operating system, but is also used to refer to any software or dedicated hardware capable of providing services.
Most companies you talk to, if you ask them to provide you with a server, will provide a computer running Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or Microsoft Small Business Server. They will provide this because it is the only software they know, and not necessarily because it suits your needs.
Here at Midgard, we know that what matters most to you, is your data. For many companies, after we have discussed your requirements, will will recommend a Windows based system. However, for many more companies, A Microsoft Windows based system will either not meet their requirements or will be the more expensive option, both in terms of the initial cost, and in ongoing costs.
Midgard is able to offer a choice of Microsoft Windows based servers or Linux based servers, we are one of the few companies with sufficient expertise and experience to work with both operating systems. We can therefore give you an unbiased evaluation on what is best for you, rather than what is best for us.
